Bonfire Night

Le 5 novembre au Royaume Uni, c'est Bonfire Night. A mi-chemin entre le 14 juillet et les feux de la St Jean, feux d'artifice et feux de joie. Pour la première fois, le 5 novembre tombait un samedi soir et nous sommes allés voir le feu d'artifice de la mairie sur Glasgow Green. On était excités toute la journée et on a adoré notre premier feu d'artifice! Et pour l'occasion on a meme eu notre première barbapapa. On n'était pas trop sûrs au début de ce que Papa nous avait acheté mais après la première bouchée, nos doutes se sont envolés !

For the first time since we were born, Bonfire Night fell on a Saturday so we got the chance to go and see the fireworks on Glasgow Green. We were super excited all day long and our first fireworks didn't disappoint, we really enjoyed it! And to make it even more special, we had a taste of our first candyfloss. We weren't too sure at first but after the first bite, we were sold!

Pâte à modeler - Playdough

Ca fait bientot un an qu'elle se languissait dans un tiroir, Maman a enfin eu le courage de nous sortir la pâte à modeler. Gros succès! Chacun sa couleur (Liam a choisi rose bien sûr) et presque pas de dispute pour les outils de modelage et découpage. On ne l'a meme pas remis dans le tiroir !

It had been gathering dust in a drawer for almost a year but today, Mummy finally built up the courage to let us loose on the playdough. Big success. We picked a colour each (Liam picked pink which was a given) and we almost didn't fight for the cutters. It's not going back in the drawer!

A cheval - On a horse

En fin d'après-midi, Lucile et Aurélien sont passés avec leurs chevaux. Ophélya et Flavie ont bien aimé leur première expérience de montée à cheval.

Later in the afternoon, Lucile and Aurélien came round with their two horses. Flavie and Ophélya quite enjoyed their first horse riding experience.

Liam ayant peur des chevaux, on n'a pas réussi à le convaince de faire un tour.

Liam was scared of the horses and we never managed to convince him to have a go.

En revanche, une fois convaincu que les chevaux n'allaient pas le manger, Noah a bien voulu monter avec Lucile d'abord, puis avec Aurélien et enfin tout seul.

However, Noah, once reassured that the horses wouldn't actually eat him, agreed to climb on the horses, first with Lucile, then Aurélien and finally on his own.

Fier comme un paon le Noah et il en parle encore de son tour de cheval avec "Lucine" et "Caulélien"!

So proud of himself our Noah, and 2 months later, he still goes on about horse riding with "Lucine" and "Caulélien".

 

Propre - Potty trained

Ce week end on a fait un grand pas sur la route de l'autonomie : on a enlevé les couches ! Maman était prete: 42 slips ("big boy pants"), ça devrait suffire non?

This weekend, we took a bit step: potty training! Mummy was ready: 42 "big boy pants" should be enough?

Noah a pris le coup très vite. Deux ou trois accidents le premier matin puis en se réveillant de la sieste, il avait compris et il a fait son premier pipi au pot: trop fier ! Après ça, aucun problème. Il demande le pot et les accidents sont très rares.

Pour Liam, ça a été beaucoup plus difficile. Accidents sans arrets, refus de s'asseoir sur le pot etc. On a persisté une semaine avant de remettre les couches...On recommencera plus tard.

Chinois - Chinese

Le vendredi midi, au travail de Maman, c'est chinois. Aujourd'hui Maman a ramené des restes. On a bien aimé, surtout les beignets de crevettes !

On Fridays, Mummy and her colleagues order a chinese take away for lunch. Today she brought back a doggy bag for us to try and we liked it, especially the prawn crackers !

Luge ! - Sledge !

Nous voilà de retour à Glasgow et il y a ENCORE de la neige !

On s'est habillés bien chaudement (merci Manou pour les combines) et on est partis à Alexandra Park pour notre bapteme de luge. Une fois que Noah a fini par accepter que la luge fonctionnerait mieux sur la neige, on s'est bien amusés. Et le top du top? C'était pour les parents, la sieste de 3 heures qui a suivie !

Here we are, back in Glasgow and it's been snowing AGAIN !

We wrapped up warm and headed for Alexandra Park for our first (successful) sledging session. When Noah finally accepted that the sledge would work better on the snow we had a brilliant time. And you know what was best? It was for the parents, our 3 hours nap afterwards ! 

Les lumières de la ville - Christmas lights in Glasgow

 Cet après midi, profitant d'un petit répit entre deux "épisodes neigeux", nous sommes allés voir les lumières de la ville. Toute une aventure puisque nous n'avons plus de voiture et que notre voiture d'emprunt, la Mini de Grandad ne nous permet pas de transporter notre poussette... nous sommes donc allés à la ville à pied, une grosse heure quand il faut négocier les trottoirs glissants! Heureusement, ça valait la peine et nous en avons pris plein les mirettes. Les décorations de George Square et du Museum of Modern Art puis le marché de Noël ...

 This afternoon, taking advantage of a break in the bad weather, we went to see the Christmas lights in town. It was a bit of an adventure since we can't fit the buggy in Grandad's Mini and we had to walk into town - just over an hour walk with all the dodgy slippy pavements! But it was worth it and we enjoyed the lights on George Square and the Museum of Modern Art and finally the Christmas Market...

At the Christmas Market, we had our first german sausages. Like it !

Puis nous avons pris les photos désormais traditionnelles devant le sapin de George Square !

Ce weekend, comme on est encore sous la neige et que la neige on n'aime pas ça, on a décidé de rester au chaud et de faire notre sapin de Noël. On n'a même pas fait tomber le sapin ou cassé de boules et on est plutot fier du résultat!

This weekend, since there's still plenty of snow and that we don't like it, we decided to stay inside and to start our Christmas preparations with our Christmas tree. We managed not to pull the tree down or to brak the baubles and we are rather pleased with the finished article!

Coquetiers - Egg cups

Aujourd'hui nous avons étrenné les coquetiers que Tatie Capucine nous avait offerts pour notre premier Noël, des coquetiers artisanaux, peints à la main par Capucine elle même!

PS - Capucine, Maman ne se rappelait plus lequel était à qui alors dis nous si elle s'est trompée ...

Today, for the first time we used the personalised egg cups that Auntie Capucine gave us for our first Christmas, hand painted by Capucine herself!

Aux chevaux

Ce matin on est allés voir les chevaux de Jean Marie et Aurélien. On n'a pas voulu monter dessus mais 'Baby' est plus courageux que nous!

This morning, we went to see Jean Marie and Aurélien's horses. We were too scared to ride on the horse but Baby was a lot braver than we were!

Ensuite on est allés voir les poules et on a même trouvé des oeufs frais. Miam!

We also went to see the hens and even found some fresh eggs. Yum!

Pour finir, on a donné du pain aux chevaux.

And finally we gave some bread to the horses.

Et evidemment, Liam a du inspecter la poubelle...

And obviously Liam had to check out the bin ...

Tomates et oeufs à la coque - Tomatoes and boiled eggs

Ce soir au menu, deux nouveautés: petites tomates cerises crues et oeufs à la coque (fournis par Jean Marie). Les tomates nous ont surpris mais les oeufs ont rencontré un vif succès !

Today on the menu, two novelties: little cherry tomatoes and boiled eggs. The tomatoes did surprise us a little and we didn't like them much, but the boiled eggs were a resounding success!

Première coupe de cheveux - First haircut

Aujourd'hui, c'était le grand jour, l'événement tant attendu par nos deux grands pères (et d'autres gens trop polis pour nous le dire!) ... notre première coupe de cheveux!

Today was the big day, the event that both our grand dads had been waiting for for so long (and probably other people who were too polite to say so !) ... our first haircut !

Kiki est venue à la maison ce matin pendant notre petit déjeuner et elle s'est mise au travail tout de suite. Liam était prem's. Armé d'une tranche de brioche, il n'a pas bougé pendant toute sa séance. Enuiste ce fut le tour de Noah. Il a voulu être sur les genoux de Maman et a commencé à pleurer jusqu'à ce qu'il découvre le brumisateur. Après ça, il n'a plus bougé.

Kiki (Manou's friend) came to Manou's house this morning while we were having breakfast and she set to work straight away. Liam was first. Armed with a slice of brioche, he didn't move the whole time. then it was Noah's turn. He didn't want to stay in the high chair and had to be on mummy's knees. At first he started crying but after he found the watering spray, he was a star.

Et voilà le travail! Adieu boucles blondes de bébés, bonjour petits garçons!

Noah était tellement content de sa nouvelle coupe qu'il a voulu partir avec la coiffeuse!

Noah was so please with his new hair cut that he decided to leave with the hairdresser!

Pêche - Peach

D'habitude Maman nous coupe les fruits en morceaux mais aujourd'hui on a réclamé notre pêche entière. On grandit...

Usually Mum cuts our fruit in pieces but today we wanted to have it whole. We must be growing up ...

De saison - Seasonal

Ce soir au menu des fruits de saison, et en particulier nos premières fraises. Grand succès !

Portmoak

Aujourd'hui on est allés voir Papa à son club de planeur.
Et ils nous a même laissés essayer son planeur ... on fait de beaux pilotes non?
Va falloir casser la tirelire pour un biplace!

Today we went to see Daddy at the gliding club.
We were allowed to sit in the pilot seat ... looks like we're enjoying ourselves, don't you think?
We need a few more pennies in our piggybank before we can afford a two seater!

Largs

Un beau dimanche ensoleillé, nous sommes partis à la plage sur une recommendation de Sharon (merci !). Largs, c'est super, on y reviendra!

On a very sunny Sunday, we decided to venture out to the beach after a recommendation by Sharon (thanks!). Largs is brilliant and we'll be back!

Puis une balade pour digérer sur la pelouse qui longe la promenade. Noah adore ramasser des bots de bois!
